Reflection

Hello everyone!

Today, I want to share with you a very special post of this blog.

First of all, I want to comment that from my point of view being reflective as a teacher is very important. Also, we should encourage students to be reflective on their own learning. The use of reflections in the classroom is a powerful practice for both teachers and students.

So, now I'm going to make a reflection about what I've learnt during the course. I had great memories while I was creating my final artifact which summarizes this course. Here you can see it!

Time flies and I needed to reflect on how much I've learnt about ICT:

I learned how to embed an online tool in my learning journal. Also, how to change the size of these things. (This has been a bit more difficult but in the end I've got it).

I learned from my teacher and my classmates and also I learned from myself.

 I improved my digital competences.

I learned that ICT requires time but it´s more than worthy when you know how to use each of the app that we've seen.

If I have to choose my favourite activity is the video clip. Using the chroma it was really hard and we have to spend a lot of time, but it was really fun. Also I have to say that another activity that I really like it was the Slideshow because I discovered more tools apart from Power Point or Prezi that I have been using all my life, so from now on I will use Genially.

If I have to choose one activity that I don't like is the mindmap. I found it difficult, I would use the traditional way to create mindmaps. Mindmeister has not stopped giving me headaches.

To sum up ICT in education is important for the 21st century. Although I sometimes felt frustrated using ICT, I think I have learned many resources that I did not know and that really are very useful to carry them out in our lessons, because as teachers of the 21st century we must use ICT as one of the main resources for our work.

I would like to thank to Francisco for his patience and his advices!

 It has been a pleasure!

Record your video clip

Hi everyone!

I´m back to talk about the use of video clip in education. I think using videos in the classroom is a really good idea. Not only does the video provide a teacher with a wide range of benefits but it is also a fun and entertainment experiment for children.

We can create our own videos to teach content or make our students protagonists.

I want to show you an example that I made with two classmates. We have used to edit and create the video VSCD Free Video Editor, which from my point of view is has been difficult since I had never used it before. The images we used are from Pixabay and the effects are from ZapSplat.

We had problems editing the video due to the fact that the we used a green tablecloth, so the chroma was not professional, also the camera and the light maybe was not the appropriated.

The title of our video clip is: Seven wonders of the world and we have decided to do the video about this topic in order to explain to our students the seven wonders of the world and also we can teach them the continents.

Here you have the link to my previous entry about storyboarding the video clip:

https://martalearningjournaltic.blogspot.com/2019/04/storyboard-video-project.html

 I hope you like it!

From my point of view, it is not perfect but we do our best. I really enjoy this activity it was really useless! The creation of  the video was extremely fun! We spent  enjoyable moments recording the video and we couldn't stop laughing, indeed we had to repeat some scenes.
Despite being our first educational video, I think it is good. Anyway, we will be able to make better videos in the future.

I can just add that it has been an unforgettable and amusing experience in which I have learnt how to create educational videos, a valuable educational resource with a lot of possibilities.

The world is my audience

Hello everyone!

I want to share with you my experience using Flipgrid, it is an online app where you can share videos. We can use this app in the classroom where students can share an opinion or they can also share a travel experience. These are just some examples but the utility of the app is that students can share their videos about different topics and then watch the videos of their classmates and also from other people. I have created a video talking about how I decided to study this master. I think it was destiny. What do you think?

I found this app really interesting and useful.  With this app we can:

Develop the students' ability to express themselves.
It can help you to evaluate an activity.
Teachers can ask for an opinion about a reading, a movie that students have visualized or a topic discussed in class ...
Increase your possibilities of analysis on the subject of each grid, since the students give their opinion, from their particular perspective, in an open discussion.
Increase student confidence.

It could be interesting to use this activity at the beginning of the academic year where students can introduce themselves or talk about their holidays. I think it would be a motivating activity to start getting to know the students and their interest. I will use it the first days of school.

I hope you like it!

Storyboard a video project

Hello everyone!

My group did a storyboard to represent each scene of the video that we are going to record. In the storyboard, you can see the title of the movie and a brief description of it. Also, a picture of each scene and the dialogue and the link where we found the effects that we are going to use in each scene.

We have used the template to create the storyboard rather than used the tool online because we found that the online tool we just could create 6 scenes and our movie has 8 frames.

I will embed here our storyboard, our plan where the storyboard is explained. Also, we found that with the online tool we could not use the background we wanted so for this reason we decide to use a document word, images from Pixabay and emojis from Birmoji to make the final images for each scene.

As you just have seen our storyboard is called “Seven Wonders of the world” the film is about three friends, Eva María, Eva, and Marta. Eva María and Marta are bored in the kitchen, they don’t know what to do. Eva comes to the kitchen with a brilliant idea. She has three magic balls that allow them to go wherever they want. Taking advantage of them, they will travel and visit the Seven Wonders of the World: The Great Wall of China, Petra, Christ the Redeemer, Machu Picchu, Chichen Itza, Colosseum and Taj Mahal. Each one is going to visit two of them and will explain to them a little bit of each monument. In addition, they will tell us the continent where it is located and the city. Let's discover each of the seven wonders of the world. Each girl will take two magic balls and will visit different monuments and, in the end, they will meet again in the last destination.

The aims of this activity are:

To learn the continents.
To learn about the Seven Wonders of the World.
To recognize the country where the monuments come from.
To develop digital competencies.
To improve listening skills.
To develop a critical and open attitude towards other cultures different from ours.

We will watch the video in the classroom and then we will show the different continents and countries on the map. After they will learn about each monument, we will play an interactive game in which they will have to stand up and point to the country, continent or the monument. Depending on what the teacher asks them to do and they will have to tell their classmates the other things (name of the monument, country or continent). For example, the teacher says: “point to the Colosseum” and the student will have to point on the map where the Colosseum is, and tell the rest of the class the continent and the country where the monument is.

With this project, students will be divided into seven groups. Each group will be one Wonder of the World. They will have to search for information about the monument and present it to the rest of the class.

This is the map that we are going to use.

Podcast

Hello everyone!

In this class we are going to use and create a podcast. We can use audios, they are often funny, entertaining, educational and rarely boring. We can use podcast to enhance our class, it can help students to improve their listening skills and speaking also we can use audios to work a wide variety of skills:

I have prepared a Google document where is the lesson plan of my project.

The tool we are going to use is SoundCloud: here is the link: https://soundcloud.com/ SoundCloud is an online platform for audio distribution that allows us to make recordings in the cloud, upload audios, promote them and share them. The audio tracks that we record or upload can be tagged, categorized, shared on social networks and organized into playlists.

Here is my channel:

Here is my podcast where I explain the two activities you will have to do:

I will be evaluated you according to your participation and attitudes in the classroom.

Remember GROUPS  means:

Give thoughtful feedback
Respect others
Offer support and ideas
Use soft voices
Participate actively
Stay with your group

Using podcast students are developing a positive attitude towards using technology. They can also develop creativity and communication skills. New technology always has a heavy impact on education, and podcasting is no different, so using ICT resources is a way to introduce technology in the class.

Infographic

Hello everyone!

I created an infographic to help students to understand the content because It is more visualize.  I used a tool called Canva, I found it very easy. With Canva we can make infographics, we can use templates already created or we can create them.We can also use images, arrows, diagrams, etc. Besides we can write text to explain a little bit of information about the topic. We have different letter styles and we can change the colour and the size. We should add just important information. In addiction we can download and share it like I did.

My infographic is about "Healthy habits", in the infographic you can find seven ways to keep you healthy.

From my point of view, Canva is easy to use and it is attractive to use it. I will use this tool in the future to create more materials for my class. Also, we can let them to create materials.

I hope you like it!

Using mindmaps in class

 Hello everyone!

Today I´m going to talk about apps that you can use it to create mindmaps. From my point of view, mindmaps are a very effective tool to put the most important information. These are some online tools for creating mindmaps: coggle, mindmeister, mind42, spiderscribe and creately.

I used Mindmeister, it is a web application to build and use conceptual maps. One of its best features is that you don´t need to install anything. One of the advantage I found is that it facilitate collective and collaborative work also you can use different colours and shapes. One of the disadvantages I found is that you can´t add images for free because you have to pay.
I think it will motivate students, since it is original and fun app to make conceptual map.

Sharing stories through comics

Hello eveyone!

Today I want to talk about Pixton tool. It is a tool to create comics using figures, scenes and characters. You can use the figures available in the the web tool available in the web tool, adding the dialogues of the characters. I think comics can be powerful learning tools, it can be used as an introduction to the unit. In order to make comics you can also use these tools: Creaza and StoryboardThat.

Using comics in classrooms can engage students and encourages them to learn vocabulary. I like the tool because it it easy to use, I think I will use it to introduce new topics in an enjoyable and creative way.

Here is my comic about healthy habits:

Design and present a support slideshow

Hi!

I´m here again to explain to you what I´m learning so far.

I made an online presentation to introduce the topic of "healthy habits" in class. I used Google sides because I think it´s a very useful tool and I found it easy to use. I think, as much as you explore the tool is better, thanks to the other presentations I´m learning to make new things. From my point of view,  teaching topics through digital tools engage students and motivate them. Grabbing learners attention and keeping everyone active during the class is very important, so we should make the presentations interactive. I really like sharing our presentation and learning from the other classmates,  they are sharing really good and interesting things and it helps us to be more creative and to know new things about the tools.

The importance of content curation in Education

Hello!

In this post I´m going to explain what I´ve learnt about content curation. It is the process of filtering, grouping and selecting resources. It is very useful because we can gather all the resources we want.

I create a board call CLIL Healthy and unhealthy food,in which we can find some activities and resources related to the topic.

I used the tool called Pinterest to start curating content for my lesson. We can also use symbaloo, pearltrees and list.ly. I really like Pinterest, it has a lot of didactic resources to use them in our teaching and learning process. I will try to use the others.

Image Attribution for a CLIL Lesson

I´m going to use this images to plan my CLIL lesson to explain healthy and unhealthy food (junk food). This topic from Natural Science belongs to "Bloque 2: el ser humano y la salud". It is intended for first graders.
The main purpose of this lesson is to teach students to distinguish between healthy and unhealthy food by using images.A good way to visually the difference between healthy and unhealthy food is using pictures.

I think this lesson was really useful to know how to use images in the right way. Now, I know how to respect copyright and identify where I found the images.  The page I have used was Pixabay, I found it really interesting because with it we can use images without copyright.
From my point of view, images used in class to teach a content will help students remember that contents. Using images in our class. As you know, there are different learning styles and visual learners use images, mind maps and also pictures.

Well this is all! So far I am learning so much.

I downloaded the pictures from the following website: https://pixabay.com/en/
